About Us
YETE Programs is a family business which was founded by Claudia Brandt, the CEO. It was inspired when we faced some health issues in the family, a heart attack, two different cancers and a diagnosis of diabetes. Much of this was related to unhealthy eating habits and obesity. When we came out the other end of these issues, we decided to encourage others to eat healthier and become more active to avoid a health crisis, and we wanted to start from the ground up…with the children.
Why YETE?
YETE, which stands for You Eat They Eat, has multiple meanings. First of all, it reminds us that our children follow by example. Therefore, we must make healthy choices in our diets and encourage our children to do the same.
Now let’s flip that! Let’s suppose for one minute that our children can teach us a thing or two. If they are given the tools and the opportunity, they will soak up the knowledge given to them to “eat this and not that” and why. They will be excited to share this at home and they will be far more likely to act upon that knowledge.
Lastly, the You Eat They Eat also implies that every time we sit down to a meal we should remember that there are many people out there who cannot do the same. With YETE Programs, we have built into our program many opportunities to help food banks and food pantries.
Our Mission
We believe that children should be guided in their choices, but that ultimately in order to get them to continue to make those choices, the power must be placed in their hands. We decided to introduce these healthy options through a fundraiser. If the children see all their other classmates doing the exact same thing, then they are more willing to take that step forward, in healthy competition and possibly develop healthy habits for life.
